Educational Outings A true visit to Fort Myers would be incomplete without visiting the:  Edison - Ford Winter Estates The winter estate home and lab of Inventor Thomas Edison and home of auto manufacturer Henry Ford can be found in Fort Myers at 2350 McGregor Boulevard. The Property includes self guided or group tours of the two homes, gardens, Edison’s laboratory and a museum of Edison’s numerous inventions. A small cafe and gift shop are available. Also of note, the world’s 2nd largest Banyon Tree grows here. Planted by Edison with the intention to study the tree as a source for latex, a necessary component of rubber, the tree spans over an acre. A true sight to be seen!
